YOKOHAMA Supports Chelsea FC’s Pre-season Match in Japan

YOKOHAMA will support a second pre-season match in Japan of Premier League Chelsea FC, for which the Company is an official club partner. The second match (Rakuten Cup) will be played against FC Barcelona, 2017/18 Spanish League ‘La Liga’ Champions, on 23rd July 2019, at Saitama Stadium 2002.

In addition to the events surrounding the previously announced first match on 19th July against the 2018 J.League Champions, Kawasaki Frontale, fan events and lucky draws will also be scheduled around this match day, and YOKOHAMA will offer opportunities for Japanese football fans to experience the exciting atmosphere up close. Pre-season matches are held before the start of the Premier League season, which begins in August. The fixtures tend to be held outside of England, with matches held in the United States (2015, 2016), China (2017), Singapore (2017), and Australia (2018), since YOKOHAMA started its partnership with Chelsea. Chelsea’s pre-season matches in Japan were YOKOHAMA’s wish, and the two big matches against Kawasaki Frontale (19th July) and FC Barcelona have now been realized. YOKOHAMA will work closely with Chelsea while the team is in Japan to bring Japanese fans closer to the “Blues” ahead of the 2019/20 season.

To date, YOKOHAMA and Chelsea FC have co-organized two Chelsea Legend fan events in Japan, with Frank Lampard in 2017 and Didier Drogba in 2018. Chelsea FC Men’s team will play in Japan for the first time since the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup. Chelsea star players are scheduled to join the preseason tour, with the “Blues” bringing their strongest possible squad, and a high-level battle is expected for the both matches.

YOKOHAMA focuses on OE, winter tires and the "hobby segment"

This year, tire manufacturer YOKOHAMA is once again using the eye-catching Geneva Motor Show to point out its new products in the 1st quarter of 2019. The Palexpo area opens its doors for car fans from all over the world from March 7 to March 17. The press was approved and was informed by YOKOHAMA on March 5 at 3:45 pm during a press conference on key topics. In addition to OE products, winter tires and tires, the focus of booth number 4231 in hall 4 will be the so-called "hobby area", which has recently seen a strong upgrade at YOKOHAMA.

YOKOHAMA's latest original equipment activities are closely linked to the Japanese premium tire strategy. An important role is played by the flagship product ADVAN Sport V105, which is now very well represented in the OE sector and has made a career in the aftermarket as well.

In addition, the company is well positioned in the winter segment, where a wide range of different profiles is offered. The car as a hobby

Particularly interesting are the current developments in the so-called hobby sector. The Nissan GT-R shown at the stand with the sports road tire YOKOHAMA ADVAN A052 shows this very clearly. In addition, the show will feature other interesting tires from this segment, aimed specifically at European audiences. In addition to sports tires this area includes also off-road products. Here, YOKOHAMA presents a new mud terrain product for off-road vehicles and pick-ups at the Motor Show, the GEOLANDAR X-MT, and the Japanese think of vintage car owners as a target group for the innovations presented as well. Entering the program for them is the new  G.T. SPECIAL CLASSIC.

Experience the YOKOHAMA brand

Emotional experience is not neglected at YOKOHAMA either. One stand area is dedicated to the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), which is looked after by the Japanese as the exclusive tire supplier. The football fans were also not forgotten, after all, they are the partner of FC Chelsea. On Friday, March 8, the player legend Didier Drogba will be the guest. He will talk exclusively about his time at the famous English Premier League club and about his role as a YOKOHAMA brand ambassador.
